Anyone who thinks the art of conversation is dead ought to tell a child to go to bed. ~Robert Gallagher
Therapy Services:
We provide family therapy and child counseling services, with a holistic and systemic focus. To be more clear, my training in family therapy means that I see children as a product of their environments and believe that change is difficult without addressing the family and school environmental supports for kids. Additionally, I find that my work moves more smoothly when we address overall wellness- sleep, diet, exercise, etc- in addition to working on mental health and behavioral struggles. For work with children, we provide play therapy services (what the heck is play therapy?- click here to learn more). The playroom in my office is equipped with everything your child needs to tell me their story. More traditional talk therapy services are available as well, for individuals, families or children. All child therapy services include frequent communication with parents to ensure that progress is being made toward our goals, and to provide feedback regarding how parents can support their child's work.

Mischief Managed now has an array of essential oils available to try and
purchase.
I'm not an aromatherapist, but I'm all about creative problem solving and
I've found that essential oils can really help with an array of concerns-
anxiety, focus, sleep issues, etc. I've also found that everyone is different
with regards to the helpfulness of oils, and some people have strong aversions
to some of the scents. So, I purchased a good variety for us to try
together, if you're interested. If we find one that helps you, I can
order it for you or you can order elsewhere but at least you'll know which ones
you like before you spend the money.
Parent Coaching:
I've found, in my outpatient work, that often times the child does not specifically have an issue to work through, but rather that the parents are at a loss regarding how to deal with particular behaviors at home. Enter parent coaching. These sessions are geared toward helping parents to understand the purpose of the child's behavior and to structure their response to gain the desired outcome. Together we can make your household run more smoothly, for the benefit of everyone!
Love and Logic ® Parenting Classes:
The Love and Logic ® curriculum was designed by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline, M.D to provide parents with simple and practical techniques to help with raising kids of all ages. The focus is on raising more responsible children, having more fun as a parent, and to have healthier and happier relationships. This program has been used by educators, parents, and other professionals since 1977. Contact me to find out when/where the next group is being offered, or to set up your own (fun for mommy groups!).
